Voter Photo Identification Law

Alabama law requires all voters to present a valid form of photo identification when voting in any Election.  Acceptable forms of Photo I.D. are as follows: 

  • Alabama Driver’s License – not expired more than 60 days
  • Alabama Non-Driver Identification Card
  • Alabama Photo Voter Identification Card
  • State Issued I.D. (Alabama or any other state)
  • United States Passport – or – Passport Card (as long as it has a picture of the voter)
  • Federal issued Identification Card
  • Employee Identification Card from the Federal Government, State of Alabama, County Government, Municipality, Board, Authority, or other entity of THIS state
  • Student or Employee Identification Card from a college or university in the State of Alabama (including postgraduate technical or professional schools)
  • U.S. Military Identification Card
  • Tribal Identification Card
  • Pistol Permit – as long as it has a Picture and is NOT EXPIRED

 ** The only form of identification that can be expired (up to 60 days) is an Alabama Driver’s License – ALL OTHERS MUST BE CURRENT **
